We love the outdoors, yet live downtown.
We try to encourage our kids to be physically active, yet there are iPads and iPhones all over the place.
We try not to over-consume, yet there are plenty of purchases being made.
Hence we are just like many many other families.
We ALL can use some help sometimes.
Our two kids were always encouraged to walk by themselves as much as possible. Naturally we wanted them to become physically healthy and able.
However, as all of you know, sometimes your child has other plans and simply decides NOT to walk. Usually this happens the same day as your very important morning meeting or the day it starts to rain cats and dogs… or all of the above.
Smaller, simpler, better.
To handle everyday logistics, we got a ride-along-board for our pram from one of the major brands.
It was a life-saver! It was great.
But only because it “did the job”: to fast track taking the kids from A to B. Every other aspect of it was a hassle. It was too big and bulky. Constantly in the way, both when in use and when folded “away”. Furthermore, it was tricky to take off, and we couldn’t easily fit the pram in a car and an elevator anymore.
How to implement real change?
Having worked my whole life with product development, including baby products, it came naturally to me to prototype my own solution. I used it for my own kids, then passed it on to some of my friends. Both parents and kids loved it. Yet I wasn’t keen to make just another plastic product to be consumed.
It wasn’t until a few years later when I got frustrated with, and understanding why, big brands weren’t more proactive in implementing proper recycled materials in their products that I decided to instead do it myself.
And thus “prepare to propel” – prepello - was born.
Not for everyone. Perfect for some.
Our design process has an absolute focus on sustainability before the pen even hits the paper. Our products are probably not for everyone, but hopefully perfect for some. We would love if you join us on the journey towards active kids and a cleaner earth.
Maybe it can even inspire other companies to recycle a bit more and green-wash a little less.
